KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lawrence woman riding a moped was struck by a vehicle and killed late Tuesday, police said.
Around 10:20 p.m., Lawrence police responded to the 2700 block of Haskell Avenue after reports that a pedestrian may have been hit by a vehicle, police said in a news release.
Officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived, but the 24-year-old woman died of her injuries.
Police said the woman was struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene after the crash, and police said "all possible contributing factors are being actively investigated."
Haskell Avenue was closed for more than six hours as police investigated the crash.
