Shortly before midnight, a speeding vehicle left the roadway, hit a guardrail and ejected all three occupants on EB I-470 and 50 highway killing one, and injuring two others.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Tamerick Wright, 17, of Kansas City, was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control.
The car traveled off the roadway, hit a guardrail and ejected Wright, along with 17-year-old passenger Nefertiti Smith of Blue Springs, Mo.
The vehicle then rolled over and ejected another passenger, Kenveion West, 18, of Kansas City.
Smith was pronounced dead at Centerpoint Medical Center a short time later.
West and Wright are both listed in serious condition.
No other injuries were reported.
