KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lee's Summit home was damaged in a fire late Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 1200 block of Southeast Rosehill Drive at about 11:15 p.m.

When they arrived, smoke and fire were visible from the back of the one-story home.

The people who live there were safe outside.

Crews quickly knocked down the fire.

The fire heavily damaged the deck and spread to the living room and dining room.

The cause of the fire was determined to be ashes from a charcoal grill that had been used on the deck earlier in the evening.
