Lee's Summit man dies after fiery crash into home last week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 29-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries in a fiery crash into a home on April 1 has died, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Robert L. Cox Jr., of Lee’s Summit, died more than one week after the crash, which occurred near East 113th Street and Norby Road.

According to police, Cox’s vehicle went off the roadway and crashed into a house on Norby Road.

Both the vehicle and the home burst into flames, police said. The homeowner ran out of the residence when he heard the crash, and a dog inside was rescued.

After the crash, the home was deemed inhabitable by the Kansas City Fire Department.

Cox was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said he died Thursday at an area hospital.
