Elsewhere in Douglas County, emergency officials are working to assess damage and clear power lines before making a call for volunteers. The Douglas County Office of Emergency Management will make updates on its social media accounts later today on how people can volunteer.

Closer to Kansas City, Heart to Heart International is stationing its mobile medical unit at Linwood Elementary School in Leavenworth County for those needing help.

The Basehor-Linwood School District is collecting bottled water, trash bags and cleaning supplies. Donations can be made at Basehor-Linwood High School until 4 p.m. today.
