KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lenexa's chief of police will retire in December after three-decade career.
Chief Thomas Hongslo, who has been with the Lenexa Police Department for 25 years, made the announcement Tuesday. He has served as chief the past eight years.
City Manager Beccy Yocham said in a news release that Honglso's accomplishments and impact "will be felt for years to come."
"This community owes him a debt of gratitude for his decades of outstanding service," Yocham said.
Hongslo served on various boards and committees throughout his tenure with the department, including the KU Law Enforcement Leadership Academy and the Kansas Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training.
He also worked in the Mission Police Department and Platte County Sheriff's Office.
