KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Liberty North High School officials are considering disciplinary action after a Snapchat post circulated showing a white male student using a racial slur and referencing lynching in a video sent to a black female student.

Principal Martin Jacobs sent a letter to parents on Monday about the incident, saying that it was brought to the school district’s attention after receiving attention on social media.

Dallas Ackerman, a Liberty School District spokesman, confirmed the incident and said it happened over the weekend.

Jacobs said that the school will be handling the situation with the families involved and handing down “appropriate discipline” per board policy.

“I wanted to personally reach out to emphasize to our families that we denounce the use of racially offensive language, not only here at Liberty North, but across Liberty Public Schools,” Jacobs said in the letter to parents.
