KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Heart to Heart International is a global nonprofit based in the Kansas City area whose mission it is to help disaster victims.
The organization has provided medical aid and supplies for more than 130 countries and now it's needed at home in the U.S.
Hurricane Florence, a storm dangerous not only because of its brute force but also its potential effects on the coastline and even further inland, is quickly approaching the Carolinas, gathering strength as it comes.
Look at this closely. The latest track of Hurricane #Florence has the storm slowing down substantially & riding along the coastline of North & South Carolina as a Category 2 storm. Nasty flooding & storm surge will be life-threatening. pic.twitter.com/k1rqJFsoZK

Heart to Heart has a team already in North Carolina but said they will be sending an additional team in advance to help victims and provide supplies.
Wednesday, they’ll be putting together hygiene kits to bring with them to help victims of Hurricane Florence.
The kits will include basic items such as toothpaste and soap to be given to people displaced by the storm.
Heart to Heart will also bring medicine and other supplies in its mobile medical unit.
That unit is scheduled to leave Thursday morning at 6.
#hurricaneflorence continues to strengthen and is expected to be an "extremely dangerous major hurricane" accdg to @NHC_Atlantic. We have staff on the ground in NC and are preparing to send another team with medicines, supplies and hygiene kits.#hearttoheartinternational pic.twitter.com/PsElpFnaC6
