KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Minnesota man who was at the center of a multi-state manhunt for a Lenexa girl in 2018 pleaded guilty on Thursday to rape charges.
Dechon White, 24, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape of a child under 14, according to Johnson County records.
According to court records, White purchased two bus tickets on July 4, 2018, using the 13-year-old girl’s money. The girl said she was going to the mall but left the state with White.
An Amber Alert was issued for the girl on July 6, and she was found the same day in Minnesota and returned to her family.
White had also faced a federal kidnapping charge in connection with the incident, but it was later dismissed.
White is set to be sentenced on the rape charges on March 30.
