A man suffered electric shock and severe burns Friday while inside a manhole in Kansas City Friday afternoon.
The incident happened at 6500 block of Winner Road, just west of Interstate 435, around 3 p.m.
Kansas City Power and Light workers were at the scene, along with firefighters and police officers.
One of the victims was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after being electrocuted.
A second man may have been in the hole, but was not found, officials said.
Police said neither man worked at the site.
There also may have been damage to electric lines in the manhole.
