KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Lee’s Summit man is facing two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in connection to a shooting Tuesday morning in Raytown, Missouri that left two people dead.
Jackson County prosecutors Tuesday charged Clifton Jack, 45, with the shooting deaths of Rita Moore and Rodney Brundige.
According to court documents, police were notified of the shooting by Jack’s 18-year-old step son. The step-son told police that Jack had shot his mother and her boyfriend. In the course of the incident, Jack also shot himself in the chest, though police were able to transport him to an area hospital for treatment of his wounds.
Also according to court documents, Rita Moore had contacted police several hours before the shooting to alert them that Jack had been involved in a disturbance at her apartment. An officer later spoke with Jack on the phone, who told police he was upset with Moore, adding “I’m not afraid of going to jail.”
Officers explained to Moore the process of obtaining an ex-parte against Jack. Moore told the officers she would work to obtain one after coming home from work on Tuesday.
