KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 31-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in connection with a July dog dumping case.

Nicholas Woods faces a municipal animal abandonment charge.

Surveillance video shows a Kia Forte let a female pit bull out of a car near 45th Street and Garfield Avenue and then drive away.

The city’s illegal dumping investigator and representatives from Animal Health and Public Safety collected and examined the dog.

The dog is now with the KC Pet Project.

Tori Fugate, director of marketing and communications for the shelter, said the dog, named Mali May, is doing great. She had her spay surgery Monday and is available for adoption.
