KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri man is facing three counts of first degree assault, second degree assault on a special victim and elder abuse.

Jackson County prosecutors Thursday charged Joshua Reedus, 29, with the crimes against a 70-year-old man with several disabilities under his care at a residential care facility.

Police were notified of the incident on May 2, 2019, after the man was admitted to an area hospital with scalding burns to his genital area.

Prosecutors allege the burns occurred while the man was under Reedus’ care.

Reedus was taken into custody on May 28, where he declined questioning from detectives.

He remains in custody at the Jackson County Detention Center.
