Man found dead after shooting in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead near 72nd Street and Wabash Avenue on Christmas Eve.

Officers were dispatched to the area around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. When they arrived, they found the victim on the ground near a car.

He was later identified as 23-year-old Carter McCollum.

Police said crime scene investigators processed the scene as detectives canvassed the area for any witnesses.

It's unclear what may have led up to the shooting. Police said there is no suspect information at this time.
