KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man was found dead in the street from apparent head wounds early Monday morning, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Officers were called to the 3600 block of Thompson Avenue in the Northeast neighborhood just before 2 a.m.

Upon arrival, police discovered a man in the street suffering head trauma.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and police are calling it a homicide.

Officers have not arrested anyone and do not have any information about suspects to share with the public.

"Because it was just before 2 a.m. a lot of people were probably asleep, but some people are night owls and they stay awake late. So someone may have seen or heard something. Maybe someone has surveillance cameras on their home which might have captured something,” Officer Doaa El-Ashkar pointed out.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

El-Ashkar said Monday’s homicide was the 81st of the year in Kansas City. On June 12 of 2019, the city had 60 homicides and 52 during the same time period in 2018.
