KANSAS CITY, Mo — A jury found a man guilty in a fatal shooting outside a convenience store back in 2019.
On Friday, a Jackson County jury convicted Timothy Fernandez in the shooting death of Michael Bryan near 17th and Grand. He was found guilty of 2nd degree murder and armed criminal action for the shooting that happened February 5, 2019.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found Bryan dead on the sidewalk. Surveillance video showed Fernandez shoot Bryan in the back. The video also showed the suspect dropping a tissue on the ground after blowing his nose. That tissue was recovered for DNA testing, which connected Fernandez to the crime.
Fernandez will be sentenced December 10.
