KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police said a man was taken into custody overnight after an Operation 100.
Officers were dispatched to the area of 114th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard regarding a disturbance around midnight Thursday morning.
When they arrived, a victim told them the suspect had pointed a rifle and punched several family members throughout the day. He further stated the suspect was high on drugs, according to police.
Officers searched the area and found the man walking down the street.
Police said the suspect pulled out a rifle and began running away from officers.
The suspect ran behind houses and officers chased him on foot. The officers lost sight of the suspect and heard gunshots.
Officers saw the man's leg coming out from under a bush.
Police set up a perimeter and called Operation 100 to acquire more resources.
When tactical officers arrived, the suspect jumped up and ran. He was taken into custody without incident.
He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
