KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man was killed in a late night shooting in south Kansas City, Missouri, according to police.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the 1400 block of East 103rd Street on reported gunshots. Around the same time, a man arrived at a local hospital in critical condition from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man was later identified as 18-year-old Charles Pelton of Kansas City, Missouri.

Pelton is related to 25-year-old Ki'Essence Pelton, who was killed Sunday while riding in a car near 39th Street and Myrtle Avenue, though police did not say how they are related. They are treating the deaths as independent cases at this time.

Witnesses said a white SUV fled the scene after the shooting.

There is no suspect description at this time.
