KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The man accused of murdering a woman in Overland Park, Kansas, in 2016 entered a guilty plea for first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping on Tuesday.

Korrey R. Rinke of Ottawa, Kansas, is accused of raping and killing Julianna Pappas in Overland Park on Aug. 22, 2016. He was originally charged with capital murder and rape.

He allegedly told police he sexually assaulted Pappas and left her in a park, but couldn't find her body when he went back four days later. Investigators located her remains more than a week later.

Prosecutors said in August of 2018 that they planned to pursue the death penalty if Rinke was convicted of capital murder.

Rinke's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 12, 2019 at 11 a.m.
