KCPD investigates 109th homicide of 2020 near East 34th, Indiana

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man was shot and killed Sunday morning near East 34th Street and Indiana Avenue, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Just after 1:30 a.m., KCPD officers were dispatched to a shooting and discovered a man who had been shot lying on the sidewalk at that location. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

KCPD later identified the victim as 30-year-old Shawn Ricks of Kansas City, Missouri.

Detectives were canvassing the area and looking for any witnesses or evidence to help determine what led to the fatal shooting.

Ricks is the 109th homicide victim in 2020 in Kansas City, Missouri, which continues on a record pace for homicides in the city.
