KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police apprehended a person of interest in a deadly shooting Monday afternoon outside a McDonald's in Kansas City, Missouri.
Officers were called around 1:30 p.m. to a sidewalk outside the McDonald's restaurant near East 31st Street and Van Brunt Boulevard on a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they spotted the victim on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Witnesses told police a male suspect fled the area in a blue car.
KCPD announced later in the afternoon that a person of interest in the shooting was taken into custody around 3 p.m. near Independence Avenue and Woodland Avenue.
Police announced several road closures in the area as investigators worked the scene.
31st St. and Van Brunt, east and west, is closed for the next few hours due to an investigation. @RideKCTransit has been notified and routes are being rerouted.
