Man dies in KCMO shooting Monday night

Update, March 11 | The victim was identified as 52-year-old Michael Burton of Kansas City, Missouri.

Original story, March 9 | One man is dead following a shooting Monday night in Kansas City, Missouri.

Police responded to a home on the 400 block of Spruce around 8:45 pm on a shooting call. Neighbors heard the sound of gunfire and saw someone down in a front yard nearby.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male, who had been shot in front of a residence. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Crime scene investigators are processing for evidence to find out what happened in the moments before the shooting.

Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses or anyone who may have heard or seen anything.

They will also be looking for any residence cameras that may have captured any of the events.
