Members want money back after gym goes bankrupt

Posted

Nearly two months after suddenly closing, TITLE boxing members owed money received a bankruptcy letter in the mail.

One loyal member and former part-time trainer said the paperwork is incorrect, stating he is owed nothing.

“The documents that we got in the mail, and I talked to some other folks who got letters as well, say I am not owed anything,” Marc Vasquez said. “But I have at least six months of membership dues that I paid in full.”

Vasquez hasn't been able to get in touch with the owners who suddenly closed three metro locations, in Blue Spring, Lee’s Summit, and Liberty, in December.

“When I saw zero next to my name, I thought ‘wow that seems wrong.’”

The document lists hundreds of names, some owed more than $500.

Vasquez filed a claim with the Missouri Attorney General.

The office of the Attorney General confirmed to 41 Action News on Friday that its investigation is ongoing.
