KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The family of an Overland Park police officer killed in the line of duty on Sunday has asked that any donations be made to a charitable organization that supports the Overland Park Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 21.

Donations for fallen Officer Mike Mosher can be made to the Overland Park Police Officers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, a spokesman for the police department said Tuesday.

The donations can be made online at oppof.org, or by sending checks made out to the “Overland Park Police Officers Foundation” to PO Box 25811, Overland Park, KS 66225.

Donations also can be dropped off at the Overland Park Police Department at 12400 Foster St., Overland Park, KS 66213. All proceeds will go toward the foundation.

On Monday, a business where Mosher taught firearm classes said it had set up a memorial fund to help his loved ones. Donations for the family also are being collected at area Price Chopper stores through May 25.

Mosher was killed on Sunday in a shootout with a suspected hit-and-run driver, 38-year-old Phillip Carney, who also died in the exchange of gunfire.

Mosher, a 14-year veteran of the police department, served as president of the Overland Park Fraternal Order of Police.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
