KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Missouri Gov. Mike Parson visited Truman Medical Center on Sunday to show support for an injured Kansas City, Missouri, police officer.
The officer, who has not been identified, was shot in the head responding to a disturbance on Thursdaythat involved an armed man in the area of East 31st Street and Van Brunt Boulevard. KCPD reported on Sunday that the officer still is in critical condition, but “continues to respond to stimulus and is progressing as expected.”
Parson said in a Facebook postthat he wants the officer’s family “and fellow officers to know, on behalf of all Missourians, that we stand behind them and support our law enforcement officers.”
KCPD Chief Rick Smith said in a news conference last week that the officer had served two-and-a-half years with the department.
