KANSAS CITY, Mo. — All U.S. and Missouri state flags will be flown at half-staff Saturday to honor an area firefighter killed in the line of duty.
On Thursday, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson ordered the flags to be flown at half-staff on Saturday, Jan. 11 in remembrance of West Peculiar firefighter Chuck McCormick.
McCormick died on Sunday, Jan. 5 while battling a fire in rural Peculiar.
Saturday also marks the date when the community will gather for a memorial service in remembrance of McCormick.
Several organizations have rallied to support McCormick’s family.
