KANSAS CITY, Mo. — All law enforcement officers in Missouri will soon be required to undergo de-escalation training.
The Missouri Department of Public Safety announced on Monday that the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission voted to mandate annual instruction in de-escalation techniques.
Other training adjustments also were approved.
The commission, which operates under DPS, “establishes minimum standards for peace officer basic training and continuing education” and advises DPS on “officer standards and training,” according to the DPS website.
