No precipitation has dropped in Kansas City yet, but that hasn't stopped the Missouri Department of Transportation or the Kansas Department of Transportation from getting ready.
On the Kansas side, 46 trucks and 54 staff members will be available to help treat the roads Sunday evening and Monday morning should the storm arrive.
Meanwhile, in Missouri, crews will come in at 7 p.m. to monitor the roads. They will focus on bridges, curves and overpasses should the weather turn nasty.
Officials from both MoDOT and KDOT say the tricky part of the system is the rain.
They say they do not want to put down salt if it's just going to be washed away by the rain.
They have to wait until there is some type of freeze.
