KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Transportation released renderings of the new Buck O’Neil Bridge Tuesday.
Earlier this month, Massman-Clarkson, a Joint Venture was chosen as the project’s design-build contractor.
The renderings show a simplified design for the key downtown connector.
The project has been several years in the making.
In 2018, MoDOT completed a rehabilitation project on the existing bridge and gathered public input on a new bridge in 2019.
Construction is projected to start this fall, with the project complete in 2024.
The new bridge is expected to cost near $220 million, according to MoDOT.
