KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The additional rain and snow expected this weekend once again means long hours and plenty of work for tree and snow removal companies around the metro.

Last week, Tree Trimming Plus owner Terry Heath and his team worked around the clock to clear streets and parking lots after a storm moved through the area.

With round two coming late on Friday, Heath told 41 Action News that the conditions meant his workers would have plenty to do once more.

“Everything has to be plowed and cleaned. Then the salt trucks can come through and do their thing,” he said. “We have to do it in shifts. Guys have to rest.”

With Saturday’s alarms set for around 3 a.m., Heath said the company had already logged many hours in the days before.

“Last Saturday morning, we started around five,” he said. “We finished up on Monday afternoon.”

Aside from clearing snow from the area, Tree Trimming Plus also worked on clearing branches and downed trees.

Heath told 41 Action News that crew members worked together to fight through the conditions and plenty of fatigue.

“You’re working terrible hours all night long in the cold,” he said. “You just have to push through it and drink a little coffee. Keep going.”

Despite the grind of working in snow and tree removal service this time of year, the team said everything has to get done.

“There’s a lot of people that rely on us to make sure they can get out of their driveways and go to the doctor,” said Brett Heath. “It’s been tough but we’ve got a good crew of guys that work hard and stay positive.”

With the metro getting hit with more rain and snow this weekend, Heath said his team would be ready.

“We’ll go until we’re done. It’ll be sometime Sunday,” he said. “Hopefully, we get done in time to get a nap and watch the Chiefs game.”
