KANSAS CITY, Mo. — More than 500 Aramark employees at Kauffman Stadium are out of work or working reduced hours due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a filing from the company.
Aramark is going through “unprecedented disruption to our business” because of the coronavirus, the company wrote.
It made the decision to cut jobs at Kauffman after stadium officials informed the vendor they do not think business is going to improve for “an undefined period of time” and won’t need Aramark’s full services, if any.
Aramark is laying off 520 employees, reducing hours for 48 employees, and terminating three people, according to the filing.
Aramark said it anticipates conditions will improve at Kauffman in the future, but can not anticipate when that might happen.
