KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Though Monday will be a stormy start for Kansas City residents, the storms will make way for a cooler week.
Thunderstorms were expected to last through the afternoon, but no severe threat is expected.
A cold front will follow behind the storms, entering the area in the late afternoon, which will bring relief from the 90s and heat advisories.
Loud rumbles of thunder and heavy rain may wake some of you up this morning! Expect several rounds of these thunderstorms through the morning and afternoon as a cold front slowly makes its way south. As storms moved through the area, flooding and poor visibility posed the biggest risk for morning commuters.
As of 6:30 a.m., 350 Evergy customers and 227 Independence Power and Light customers were without power. It is not clear if those outages were connected to the storm.
