KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Superhero T-shirts aren’t usually standard dress for a funeral.

Nearly two years ago, dozens showed up for the funeral of Jayden Ugwuh, 9, and Montell Ross, 8.

The boys were big Marvel Comics fans, and so the dozens who attended their funeral wore superhero T-shirts out of respect.

Since then, police say they haven’t received a single tip in the boys’ murders and are looking for a superhero to come to the rescue.

“Jayden and Montell were kids -- they were kids. They weren’t doing nothing wrong,” said Montell’s mother, Aishah Coppage. “They were home, where we thought they were safe. I need the world and the city to know that they were kids and they don’t have a voice.”

Earlier on that day in August 2016, the boys were playing in Lindi Johnson’s yard.

“That day, they were up here playing with my cousin,” Johnson said.

The boys were in 3rd and 4th grade.

Police said they were shot while playing XBOX. Investigators believe there were two shooters, and although the shooting was intentional, they believe the kids were not the intended targets.

The deaths have taken a huge toll on police, neighbors, and family members.

“We’re begging and pleading that somebody say something,” Coppage said.
