According to Webster’s Dictionary, the word “apex” means “the top or highest part of something, especially one forming a point.”
Mr. Webster must have visited Apex Climbing Gym at 106th and Metcalf in Overland Park. Because, around here, you can surely reach the highest part and there is a great point to it.
According to owner, Phil Ratterman, the point is having fun getting fit on your own or, best of all, with friends and family.
Apex has been here for about two years.
It started as a climbing facility with a little “Ninja Room” added as a something extra.
Now, the wall and the Ninja Room are big draws. In fact, there have been several American Ninja Warrior contestants pass through the doors.
But, the bottom line is still about people of all ages finding ways to challenge themselves and have a great time doing so.
The last of this summer’s Ninja Camps is about to start but this is a year-round spot.
In addition to climbing the warped wall or making your way through the Ninja obstacle course, there are yoga classes, team building, birthday parties and lock-ins.
You can get a day pass for around $11 or invest in a membership.
The bottom line is that this is a place that will have you climbing the walls…in a healthy way and, just hanging around…literally.
