KANSAS CITY, Mo. — With a portion of U.S. 40 closed as Kansas City police investigated the shooting of two officers nearby, tragedy struck on the roadway.
A silver Pontiac Montana minivan attempting to make a U-turn from the right westbound lane did not see a Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the left lane and ran into him the vehicle’s bumper, according to a spokesman with the KCPD Accident Investigation Unit.
The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered critical injuries, including the amputation of the victim’s lower right leg and possible paralysis. He was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the minivan, who remained at the scene, and a passenger were not injured.
