KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A motorcyclist was critically injured on Monday afternoon in a fiery crash with a dump truck in Kansas City’s West Bottoms.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near West 12th and Genessee streets, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police spokesman Sgt. Bill Mahoney.

It was not immediately clear how the crash occurred, but Mahoney said the truck caught fire and the motorcyclist became stuck under the two rear wheels of the truck.

The motorcyclist was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

The truck driver got out safely and was talking to police at the scene.

Mahoney said there was no evidence of impairment.
