KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Race fans in Kansas City received some good news Thursday.

A week after what should have been Kansas Speedway’s first of two race weekends in 2020, the track learned it will host five races from July 23-25.

The series of races will kick off at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 23, with the NASCAR Cup Series Kansas 400.

That race will be followed by two races starting at 6 p.m. on July 24: NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Kansas 200 and the ARCA Menards Series Kansas 150.

On Saturday, July 25, racing will continue at 12:30 p.m. with the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Kansas 200, followed by the NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas 250 at 4 p.m.

“We are excited to be a part of NASCAR’s return to racing,” Kansas Speedway President Pat Warren said Thursday in a release. “This is an important first step in the resumption of sports to the Kansas City area, and we feel a deep sense of responsibility to play an integral role in that process.  The health and safety of our fans, teams, officials, and the entire NASCAR community are paramount.”

Although the track says it is working with local and state health officials about the possibility of including fans, as of June 4, the races will be run without fans.
