KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials closed northbound Interstate 435 at Truman Road Wednesday morning due to a 12-inch water main break, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
The interstate reopened just after 7:30 a.m.
The water flooded a portion of the interstate. With temperatures in the single digits Monday morning, the water began to ice over.
Salt trucks responded to the scene to treat the road.
KC Water said they located the break in an embankment and stopped the flow of water.
The department said it's unclear how many customers will be affected as it brings in a contractor to begin repairs.
