LAWRENCE, Kan. — University of Kansas Football fans are excited about the game this Saturday and that's because the school is allowing 10,000 fans to watch it in-person for the first time.

"This is a big day for us. We put a lot into it. But they key will be our fans following our guidelines we put out to them," said Jeff Long, University of Kansas Director of Athletics.

"You can see with the seating behind us we are utilizing chair backs to clearly mark where fans are allowed to be seated. They will all have a reserved seat in one of those seats and expected to stay in reserved seats they received," said Long.

Like at Arrowhead, masks must be worn at all times.

"You can remove them while you eat and drink. But they are expected to be put back on when that process is completed," said Long.

Security and KU staff will be walking around during the game to make sure people are wearing their masks.

There is also contact-less entry through metal detectors and stickers on the floor reminding people to social distance. This is all in hopes to keep everyone safe from COVID-19.

Tailgating is not allowed and law enforcement will be roaming around neighborhoods around the stadium to make sure fans are not tailgating.

Long said his football players are very excited to bring back fans.

"We need all the atmosphere we can get. We need all of those fans that are here to be loud and proud and the student athletes will definitely generate energy off of those fans," said Long.
