A new development east of Brookside is opening the doors for people to enjoy the community without the hassle of a maintaining a home.

Construction on the five three-bedroom units near 63rd and Oak started in 2016. They are now available for purchase.

The townhouses go for about $500,000 and are a pinnacle part of the East Brookside transformation.

John Hoffman with UC-B Properties said there is nothing comparable to the townhouses in the market. He says the high-end finishes in the heart of Midtown will attract people who want low maintenance options in Brookside.

"These townhouses are exclusively like a home, but without the issues of maintenance of an older home, for the person who wants to live in Midtown but doesn't necessarily want to take care of a residential property," Hoffman said.

Butch Rigby has also invested millions along the 63rd Street corridor. He renovated 601 63rd St. into multi-use office suites.

"Twelve to 13 months ago we were tearing the brick off of this building and a year later we are 100 percent full, 31,000 feet," Rigby said.

Both developers are committed to completing their vision for Brookside east and beyond.

"Everything we do is aimed at moving the city to the east. There is still great value along Troost and east of Troost," Hoffman said.

"The challenge of crossing Troost, which is that unspoken line we've had in this town for too long, includes the ability to understand how do we service all parts of our community," Rigby said.
