No resolution for Shawnee Mission after censoring students during walk out

Posted

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Shawnee Mission School District does not have a resolution after censoring students during an April 20 walk out.

The district apologized afterward, assuring that no students would be disciplined for taking part in the planned protest. In a meeting Monday, SMSD officials provided an update on the investigation into what happened but said any resolution would likely be postponed until after the school year ends.

The ACLU threatened to take action if the district disciplined any students for the protest.

Students 41 Action News talked to after the meeting say they’re disappointed with what they heard, but are encouraged that the investigation is still ongoing.
