Arguably the biggest party night of the year is here.

With thousands of people expected at large New Year's Eve parties across the metro, many are taking security more seriously.

Starting with venues like Union Station, which will host 1400 people for its celebration.

Event manager Stacey Price tells us with the increased attendance, they have doubled the amount of officers working the event.

"You're going to see the presence of some KCPD officers, they're going to be here," Price said. "So you're going to see a little bit more presence. Some you won't see, some you will."

Kansas City Power and Light is hosting NYE Live, with more than 6000 people expected.

Ashley Stout, marketing coordinator said, "All the venues and our team itself has all kind of worked together on these nights."

Aaron Hankins is going to NYE Live to ring in 2016, but is thinking about security measures.

"Yea, you've got to be concerned about safety. My brother actually passed away in 2006, a drunk driver hit him so that's something to look out for for sure," said Hankins.

Knowing that there is a plan in place puts him at ease.

"That's something to definitely keep my spirits up out here and keep me safe," Hankins said.

Price wants party goers to be at ease because, "I don't think they have to worry about anything. We have a great plan in place, great security in place so we're ready to have a good time."
