GLADSTONE, Mo.— On Monday, tattoo artists at Revelation Tattoo were cleaning up around their business on NE 72nd street and North Oak Trafficway when they came across a kitten in one of the parking lots.

“One of my coworkers thought it was actually dead underneath the car and he went and it was alive,” said Beth Burns with Revelation Tattoo.

The day after, two more kittens appeared in the same spot.

“They were friendly with humans right off the bat,” said Revelation Tattoo artist Richard Dean.

But later on Tuesday, they made a disturbing discovery. A litter of more kittens were abandoned in the parking lot.

“You would hate to think that anybody would not have a heart and just dumped kittens,” Burns said.

Beth Burns told 41 Action News six of them were dead.

“It’s kind of private back here you know, kind of hidden,” Burns said.

Burns’ co-workers are now caring for the other kittens they came across, even though Dean is allergic to cats.

“I swore I wouldn’t take anymore animals but, I got two dogs, a couple of rats and fish,” Dean said. “But I guess I’ll take one.”

He hasn’t named his yet.

Burns said situations like these should never happen.

“Take them to the shelter, you know that’s what they’re there for to help these animals don’t just dump them out in 100 degree weather and asphalt, they need us, they’re here because of us,” Burns said.

If police catch whoever dumped the kittens, they’ll be charged with a misdemeanor.
