KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Olathe has followed Kansas City, Kansas's lead and added a 3D crosswalk in hopes of improving pedestrian safety.
The new crosswalk is on Cherry Street from Park Street to Loula Street in downtown Olathe. It's painted so approaching divers will see an illusion of boxes in the street in hopes of getting them to slow down.
Drivers can see the boxes from 40 to 50 feet away. This crosswalk paint also has glass beads in to to help drivers see it at night.
A neighborhood in western Wyandotte County added one last month in an effort to get drivers to slow down in an area where kids frequently cross the street.
