KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Olathe Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that displaced a family of four.

Firefighters were called to the 25-thousand block of W. 148th Street just before midnight.

When they arrived, they say the fire could be seen from a mile away.

Four sleeping adults were able to escape the fire thanks to their smoke alarms.

One adult was treated for a minor shoulder injury.

A family dog died in the fire.
