Three people are displaced after an early morning house fire in Olathe on Wednesday.
Firefighters responded to the 911 call made just before 2:30 a.m. According to Captain Mike Hall, firefighters were able to quickly control the fire, which started on the home’s deck and spread into a small portion of the attic.
There were no injuries, but damage to the home is significant. The fire started from discarded smoking materials on the home’s deck. Before discarding smoking materials, firefighters say to make sure they are out. Dousing smoking materials in water or sand is the best way to do that, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
