UPDATE: 3/1/2019: Officials say the person injured in an Olathe apartment fire Thursday has died.
Alexandria A. Armstrong, 33, was the victim in the fire.
Officials believe a damaged electrical cord ignited a couch and other nearby items. It caused an estimated $33,000 in damages.

One person was critically injured in an apartment fire in Olathe Thursday evening.

Firefighters responded to the home at 420 N. Monroe Street at about 7:30 p.m.
Officials say firefighters had to break a window to reach a woman trapped in the home. She was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.
An Olathe firefighter was also taken to a hospital with a minor injury.
Four others in the building will need temporary shelter while repairs are made to the home. The Red Cross is assisting victims.
The fire is under investigation.
