KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A woman is dead and another person is injured after a crash involving a semi-truck Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. at NE 40th St. and NE Kimball Dr.
According to police, several semi-trucks were parked on the street in a no parking zone blocking a stop sign at the intersection.
A gold Kia Soul driving eastbound on NE 40th St. did not stop at the stop sign and was hit by an oncoming semi-truck.
The driver of the Kia was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The passenger was also transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the collision.
No other information will be released, pending family notification.
