KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead and two others were taken to the hospitals with injuries after a crash shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday near U.S. 24 and Lee’s Summit Road in Independence, Missouri.
A Ford van driving eastbound collided with a Kia driving northbound. The Kia overturned before coming to rest on its wheels, according to information released by the Independence Police Department.
The female driver of the Ford was taken to a local hospital with “moderate injuries,” police said.
The mal driver of the Kia and a female passenger also were taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where the driver died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police are withholding his identity, pending notification of family, and the wreck remains under investigation.
