KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A two-vehicle, hit-and-run crash at the bottom of the exit ramp to Blue Ridge Blvd. off Interstate 470 eastbound shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday left one person hospitalized.

The injured driver and sole occupant of the vehicle suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries when a car overturned and caught fire as the result of a crash at the bottom of the ramp, according to the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.

Witnesses at the scene told KCPD that a second car was involved but fled the scene.

Police shut down southbound Blue Ridge Blvd. and the Missouri Department of Transportation closed the exit off eastbound I-470 while fire, ambulance and police crews responded to the scene and investigated the incident.

The ramp was expected to remain closed for an extended period of time after the Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene.
